Puppy Feeding
Most 8-week old puppies weigh around five pounds. Each family receives a Baby Book Sheet with the puppy's weight. All bags of dog food will have the amount of puppy food to feed a dog each day. It'll be around one cup of food per day for your puppy at eight weeks old and will increase over time.

If you feed twice a day, give the puppy 1/2 a cup in the morning and 1/2 at night. It's good to give the puppy around 20 minutes to eat and then take the food away. This will encourage them, over time, to eat on your schedule and create a potty routine. At night, give them the other 1/2 a cup added to whatever food, if any, was leftover from the first feeding.

You do not need to wet the dry food. The puppies have been eating all dry food, right out of the bag, from weeks six through eight.

If you feed three times a day, give them 1/3 at breakfast for 20 minutes and take it away. Add 1/3 of the food to what was leftover from breakfast to lunch feeding. Give them 20 minutes to eat and take it away from them. Add 1/3 of the food to what was leftover from lunch for 20 minutes and take it away.

Puppies need water. They grow very quickly and need water for growth. They need water throughout the day.
